MRGV

Down on the middle Rio Grande, you can start off looking for ducks

most recently with little success, but some bag

and end up chasing quail (which can be tough to find) in your shirtsleeves.

Hard life.

Just beware the river ghost:

He'll charge by, splashing freezing water and mud in the dark.

So were you finding any quail?

Hey Chas,

No, not really. Saw tracks and got into part of a covey that other hunters had scattered (4 birds) but that was it. Tried a different area last week without seeing any birds. This area is pretty much new to me, so I don't really have any coveys staked out or have an idea of what sort of year it is for quail.
