birds on a wire

Courtesy of my Dad over in SE Texas, photos of the whistling ducks that have been hanging out on the powerline by their house every morning. Something just wrong about seeing that waterfowl silhouette from this angle and in such a location.

Ah, the melodious chirp of the duck, greeting the dawn!

That IS a strange sight. I'm not fortunate enough to have those flying around in my parts. Cool pics.

I have never seen any sort of duck on a wire--and I don't know much about whistling ducks either. Do they perch in trees?

Wandering Owl- thanks!

Chas- They do perch in trees; they just fly up and land in them almost like any old bird, which seems very strange for waterfowl.

We have a pair of wood ducks living in the treeline of our back yard. It's quite a sight: ducks copulating while balanacing on a branch about 70 feet up in a pecan tree.

Matt,

A pair of wood ducks in the back yard is a very fine thing. It'll be great watching the ducklings if they bring off a clutch.
